A Major Step Towards Food Security and Smart Farming Education

In a significant development under breaking news in UAE, His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region, inaugurated two major agricultural and educational centers in Al Ain: the Innovation Oasis and the Advance AgriTech Academy. These new institutions are set to revolutionize food production and smart farming education in the UAE, reinforcing the nation’s food security vision for 2051.

Innovation Oasis: A Hub for Sustainable Agriculture

Developed by Silal, the Innovation Oasis is a cutting-edge facility focused on sustainable food production. Designed to tackle the UAE’s harsh climate, the center aims to innovate agricultural practices suitable for hot and dry environments. Equipped with laboratories, advanced greenhouses, and experimental plant zones, the Oasis will allow researchers and students to test and refine new methods of farming.

Emphasis on Climate-Resilient Farming

The center is tailored to support farming that thrives in high temperatures and uses limited water. Innovations include solar-powered desalination, salt-tolerant crops, automated irrigation, AI-based farming tools, and robotic machinery. These smart technologies align with the UAE’s ambition to enhance local food production while conserving water and land resources.

Advance AgriTech Academy: Shaping Future Agri-Leaders

In the same groundbreaking initiative, Sheikh Hazza also inaugurated the Advance AgriTech Academy, an educational center dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Emirati farming professionals. The academy offers training programs in partnership with global universities, teaching young minds how to grow food using smart, sustainable techniques.

A New Era in Agricultural Education

This academy serves as a bridge between local talent and international agricultural innovation. Students gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge in agri-technology, preparing them for leadership roles in future UAE farming enterprises.

Silal and UAEU Collaborate for Agricultural Research

As part of this momentous occasion, a collaboration agreement was signed between Silal and the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). The partnership aims to advance agricultural research, with Silal pledging five fully funded scholarships for students from the UAEU’s College of Agriculture. This initiative seeks to empower students to contribute to the country's food security through innovative research.

Sheikh Hazza Emphasizes the Importance of Food Innovation

His Highness emphasized the critical role of research in overcoming future food challenges. He highlighted the need for strong and resilient food supply chains, local innovation, and youth engagement in shaping sustainable food systems.

Leaders and Experts Join the Historic Launch

Several prominent figures attended the event, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, senior UAEU officials, and Silal executives. Salmeen Obaid Alameri, CEO of Silal, noted that the Innovation Oasis will redefine how the UAE produces food.
