Six Arrested in Hathras Stampede, Aligarh IG Reports

In response to the devastating stampede at a religious event in Hathras, Aligarh Inspector General (IG) Shalabh Mathur announced on Thursday the arrest of six individuals involved in the incident. Among those detained are four men and two women, all of whom were part of the organizing committee and served as 'Sevadars' during the gathering.

"The death toll has reached 121," IG Mathur stated. He confirmed that all victims have been identified and post-mortem examinations have been concluded. The stampede, which occurred in an overcrowded setting, has raised serious concerns about the adequacy of crowd management and safety measures at large-scale events.

Authorities are diligently investigating the factors that led to this tragic event. The primary objective is to establish accountability and enforce measures to prevent future occurrences of such disasters.

IG Mathur further explained, "During the stampede, the six Sevadars now in custody fled the scene. A reward of Rs 1 lakh has been announced for the capture of the main suspect, Prakash Madhukar. A non-bailable warrant will soon be issued against him. We are also examining whether this incident was part of a larger conspiracy."
