With strict gun control laws in place for most civilians, China has seen a rise in mass knife attacks in public spaces over recent years. Last August, a mentally ill individual carried out a knife attack in a residential area of Yunnan, resulting in two deaths and seven injuries. Similarly, in July, a stabbing at a kindergarten in Guangdong province claimed six lives, including three children.
These incidents underscore the urgent need for increased vigilance and preventive measures to address the underlying causes of such attacks and to ensure the safety of the public, especially in vulnerable places like schools and hospitals.
